Kyoto International School welcomes students aged 3-13 years
old. We are an IB World School offering the International
Baccalaureate Organization Primary Years Program. The low
teacher- student ratio ensures children are well supported.
Along with core subjects areas, Elementary and Middle School
students have daily Japanese classes and weekly music, computer
and art lessons. Our Early Childhood classes provide a warm
and welcoming environment where children learn through play
and through guided inquiry. We also run an after-school English
Language School with classes suitable for those new to English,
bi-cultural children, or students who have lived abroad.
KIS has been given official authorization by The International
Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (PYP) to call itself a
PYP school. It has been a rewarding 4 year process with the
best years yet to come. To learn more about what the PYP is
all about and how it works in the class, read our class pages
(You will now need to obtain a password from the office),
view the curriculum outline on our Forum pages, and visit
the PYP IBO web site
for an in-depth explanation of its philosophy.
